Beforedogs started headlining movies (hello, Lassie), before Bo Obama became anational treasure, and well before "internet-famous" was a titlebestowed on our four-legged friends, there were Queen Elizabeth II's corgis.Her Majesty has surrounded herself with these regal furry friends for the pastnine decades. Here, a few special moments.

PuppyLove

Thefirst Corgi in Queen Elizabeth's life was Dookie, a dog her father, King GeorgeVI, brought home in 1933. They soon added a second corgi, Jane, to theirhousehold, and their puppies remained family pets for years to come. Here, the10-year-old queen, or Princess Elizabeth as she was known then, cuddles up withthe cute pups.

Travelingin Style

Throughoutthe years, the Queen has traveled extensively with her dogs, including a 1981trip to Aberdeen, when she brought along 13 of them. This photo of her passingthrough the Aberdeen airport with three of her dogs was taken seven yearsearlier.

Carryingon a Legacy

In2002, when the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth I, passed away, Queen Elizabethbrought her mother's remaining corgis into her home and looked after them likefamily. In this photo, taken 10 years earlier, several of the Queen Mother'scorgis are seen being assisted out of a plane.

She alsoroutinely comes across fellow corgi fans who bring their pets to events, and wecan only imagine how much it delights her.
